The Hintertux Glacier
190.000.000 cubic meters of ice, up to 120m thick and all that up to 3.250 meters above sea level: The Hintertux glacier is a natural phenomenon.
It can be reached easily from Hintertux, using some of the most advanced cable cars in Europa. Once you have reached the Hintertux Glacier, you can explore the Spannagelhöhle, the longest cave system in the central alps, or marvel at the Nature Ice Palace, a accessbile crevasse feauturing natural ice creations of outstanding beauty.
However, the Hintertux Glacier is primarily a ski resort. Not just any ski resort: It’s a ski resort for 365 days a year. Between the majestic peaks of the Olperer and the Gefrorene Wand, 22km of exhilerating slopes cater for all your needs. A Funpark also attracts many snowboarders to this skier’s paradise situated right in the middle of the highest peaks in the Zillertal Alps.
After a few hours of skiing in the morning, why not take a break, enjoy the glacier sun and take a nap on over 3.000m above sea level?
